We all met on Saturday at Eddies, Mr. Moten had 4 youths with him, Freddy, Michael returned and we met Julian and Ricardo. Uncle Gary worked with Michael on part two of the Precision Slot car fixture for the WRP chassis, this time around Michael got to solder the chassis together, Mr. Johnny Mac worked with Freddy on how to build a chassis old school, that's with a plain fixture and paper, they started with a used chassis which was out of whack so they decided to start fresh by doing the paper drawing of the chassis and then solder it together.Meanwhile Ricardo and Julian, both new to the hobby worked with Mr. Moten on the track practice, they learned how to run the car and learned about how the tree works with the cars. After a while Uncle Gary and Michael used a ready run car finished, they had to install the wheelie wheels, motor, gears and make adjustments. As did Mr. Johnny Mac and Freddy, they had a ready to run car which they had to install the body. Both cars ran well and Freddy and Michael got to test. Then we all got together and practiced how to keep track of our cars by writing down 60 ft run, E.T. and MPH, the boys had a hard time keeping up with writing about their times which I could see they sort of didn't understand why they had to do it. Then toward the end of this field trip we ran a real bracket race, this is when all those minds came on and they realized why they had to keep track of these numbers, overall a great day from everyone that participated in this event. Ricardo congrats on winning the elimination race. See you guys soon.DVan |
