George's Story told by a friend.

In 1999 I was living in Virginia and coaching hockey with, my soon to be friend, George. George was a family man with a passion for muscle cars and always said someday he was going to have me restore or build him a muscle car. Well, George passed away on 2-17-2006 1 day I will never forget.

So recently I was setting out to build a nostalgic funny car and figured a tribute to George is definitely in order. We started off with a resin Vega wagon funny car, from v8 models. I choose some brighter or bolder colors for this one, Inca gold and purple for the secondary colors and Ice lime green for the primary color. After laying down the Inca gold and some clear, I taped off a tear design and some letters and then laid down the Ice lime green. Then after it dries I removed the masks and letters, then I used a toothpick to out line the tears with purple. Decals were purchased from V8models.

For the chassis I choose the D&L L-1, I used the tongue extension and put a brace across the front, Bracket500 has a build page from the chassis experience. I choose to paint the frame Inca gold for looks and match the rest of the car. It currently has not been run and I am trying to get it ready for the Uncle Gary Shootout at Eddies Slot Car World on August 7th in Vallejo Ca. .I am going to run it in the Nos F/C 20 class. It has Pro Trac rubber and 3/32 axle bearings, I think George would like to have his name on even this small race car.
