Rules for slot car drag racing.

If you're new to the hobby, the rules can be kind of intimidating, well they're not, just ask the track owner which rules apply to his/hers' track.
The hobby and rules go back to 1962, even back then they couldn't agree with one simple page of basic rules, the race started Friday and by Sunday a few felt the rules should fit their agendas. Now a days nothing has changed, you will always find a couple of racers trying to make the rules fit their agendas.
For the bracket racer there isn't any particular rules, except the car has to have four wheels and a driver the car body can be any material, Lexan, Resin, Plastic, Styrene or any other allowable material the track will allow.
For index racing it's about the same as bracket racing, that's why when you go to your track you will see most racers run this two kinds of drag racing slot cars races.
Now when you you first get in this hobby you will find that you can get wrapped up in some class racing and that's where you need to step back and really understand what you get yourself into. Many of us have been down that road and we butt heads with some racers that are set in their own rules and no matter what the rules are, they don't pertain to them. It will frustrate you as you're trying to bring a new class into the race place and then you will be disappointed when these certain racers will drive you crazy by testing your rules.
Yes there's been general rules written and some of the slot car drag racers follows the rules from the NHRA and IHRA and some others that you've probably never heard of.
So that's why I recommend that you ask the track owner what the house rules and if you have any questions ask them and they will be more than glad to help you out.

Now go out race and have fun.
